CLOUD HORSE.jpg

Cloud Horse Media Productions is an award-winning, wholly Native American owned production company in Kyle, South Dakota that has been producing films for over 20 years. Our vision is to tell stories from a Native perspective, including stories from a Lakota spiritual and historic experience. We want to create high-quality films, that while entertaining and educating a world audience, are also deeply thought-provoking and entertaining to a Native audience as well. Most dominant society films about Native People, whether documentary or narrative, objectify Indians as curious exotics from an anthropological point of view. We tell stories in the opposite direction, from our perspective to your community, wherever in the world you may be.

Awards

Winner of the South Dakota Film Of Distinction in  2010

Selected by 10 festivals for screening, Mato Paha takes the audience to the historic Black Hills sacred sites and puts them into Lakota context. The film looks at the struggle to keep Bear Butte a place of prayer and fasting while the dominant society plans and builds resorts, bars, housing and oil development by large corporations on this sacred place. It is the real story of Avatar only today, here, now in the most sacred of all places to the Lakota. Available on CD through Cloud Horse Media.
